You will have a chance to save TWO LIVES.
Our pets are all kept in foster homes, but it was not always that way for them. The vast majority of the pets in our program came to us from the brink of euthanasia – most starting, abused, with heartworms, mange or other conditions that went untreated until we rescued them. Some were “simply” unwanted. Until we find forever homes for the ones currently in foster care, we can’t save more lives. Within hours of your adoption of one of our available pets, we go to the city shelters and save another life in need.
The pet you adopt will be fully vetted.
This includes, but is not limited to, spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchipping, testing for heartworms and other parasites, and treatment as required. RHS spends an average of $300 in veterinary costs on each pet we rescue. Your adoption fee helps defray these costs.
You will have a chance to get to know the pet you are considering before you make a commitment.
We do this by providing detailed foster evaluations on our website and at our Meet The Pets events and by sending two of our volunteers (one of whom is usually a member of the foster family who has cared for the pet) on a home visit after you meet the pet at our Meet The Pets event. During these visits, we answer more in-depth questions about the pet you are considering.
EVERY RHS ADOPTION SAVES TWO LIVES.
The adopted pet will have a safe, caring permanent home with you, and another space becomes available in a foster home to rescue a homeless pet in need.
Our pets and our volunteers thank you for visiting our website or our Meet The Pets event!
