Join Our Team – Save a Life!

Thanks for your interest in Richardson Humane Society (RHS).

RHS is an all-volunteer, registered 501(c) 3 Non Profit Texas corporation dedicated to helping homeless animals and educating the community on responsible pet ownership. We rescue dogs and cats and find them new homes with loving families in the area. All our animals are fostered in the homes of our volunteers; we do not have a physical shelter.

RHS needs volunteers in the following areas:

  • Fostering dogs or cats
  • Meet The Pets events
  • Fundraising
  • Education
  • Golf Tournament

What can you do to help?

Foster Home

Fostering is the lifeblood of RHS because the number of Foster Homes determines how many pets we can save. This is our #1 need!

Our foster homes take care of the pets while they are waiting for their forever homes. All related expenses for the RHS pet are covered, including veterinary care, medications, food, bedding, toys, treats and crates. All you need to provide is LOVE!

Our intake coordinator works with you to find a foster pet that is a good match for your home. Normally, the foster home will transport the pet to our Meet The Pets events each Saturday, but transportation assistance can be arranged. Our Meet The Pets hours and locations are listed on our events page.

Foster homes must have an adult who is at least 19 years old and all pets in the home must be spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccinations and heartworm preventative.

Meet The Pets Event Volunteer

RHS pets are offered for adoption each Saturday at “Meet The Pets” events. Volunteers staff the event and help with taking care of the pets, set up and tear down, and interacting with prospective adopters. Meet The Pets events usually has 2 shifts of 2 hours each available.

Meet The Pets is a great way to help if you have limited time or if you want to interact directly with the pets.

An Orientation Session is held once a month and is required before working at an adoption event. The orientation coordinator will be in contact with you after you sign up to let you know when the next session will be held.

Other Opportunities

We also need volunteers to assist with a variety of other tasks, including:

  • Fundraising
  • RHS Golf Tournament (our biggest fundraiser)
  • Educational Events
  • Marketing and Recruitment

Community Service

RHS may be able provide limited hours (max 4 hours per week) to fulfill community service requirements. Attending an orientation session is required prior to volunteering and those sessions are held once per month.

How To Get Involved
