Jaxon Adoption

Jaxon Adoption

Jaxon was adopted today!
Jaxon was rescued from the Balch Springs Shelter when they put out a call for help for a dog with an apparently broken or dislocated leg.   The vets determined that the leg wasn’t actually broken, but Jaxon was suffering from multiple lacerations and puncture wounds from apparent dog fight.   Scared, in pain and nervous around people and other animals, he was a challenge for new fosters, Kathy & Mark Shada.  But the Shada family worked tirelessly to help Jaxon heal physically and emotionally.  With their patient love and support, he turned out to be a true “diamond in the rough” and it was hard for them to let go.
But then along came Grace Chen, who adopted Violet D (fostered by Glenda Rampy) back in 2009.  Grace looked at some other pets at MTP but it was clear that she really felt Jaxon was the one for her.  She went to meet him at K9 University, where his interaction with Violet could be supervised, and it just clicked.  Even his less-than-stellar behavior on the home visit didn’t deter them and Jaxon (now Gus) became part of their family today.
After an apparently terrifying past, Jaxon’s lucky stars definitely aligned themselves when he was pulled from the shelter.  First, he got a foster family willing to work past his initial “bad boy” behavior and second, he found a fur-ever parent able to see through his anxiety to find the gem that Kathy and Mark had uncovered.
Congratulations Grace and Violet, and a very special thank you to the Shadas for doing such an amazing job fostering Jaxon!!
